Wickham Festival News

This time next week – Friday 4th August 2017

Next Friday Wickham Festival 2017 will be well underway with the first full day line up of music. As I write this post at 9.30pm, in precisely 7 days we would have just enjoyed Seth Lakeman. To celebrate our 10th festival at Wickham we wanted to return to our roots with a very strong folk line up, which had to include Seth…

We would next be looking forward to the headliners of either Show of Hands on The All Time Grates Stage or Edward II on The Hapi Festival Stage. This is a tough one, who will you choose?

At the start of the day Amy Goddard would have opened The All Time Grates Stage at midday. Her vocals offer a pure and almost fragile sound that has been compared to Sandy Denny and Joni Mitchell. Amy’s songs cover history, personal matters and legend and as well as current social comment…

Later in the afternoon Wizz Jones would have performed at 3pm on The All Time Grates Stage. We’ve probably all seen Alan Whicker interview him and wondered how times have changed. If you like social documentary, you’ll appreciate this artist.  Men with long hair … outrageous!!!  What would 1960s BBC make of Wickham Festival 2017?  Wizz discussed the interview some years later and continues to entertain us … a true legend of British folk music…

There’s a lot to look forward to and of course a whole host of other artists and entertainment throughout Friday, including comedy and even our first yoga session at 10am for weekend ticket holders. Day tickets are still available.  Not long to go now, see you in 6 days!!!
