Wickham Festival News

Wakey wakey Wickham

It’s exactly two weeks until the music starts!

For early risers, we’ll be opening the arena from 8am this year to weekend season ticket holders. There are breakfasts available plus some morning activities including yoga, Folk Orc workshops and informal ‘Meet the Artist’ sessions and workshops with the likes of Wizz Jones.  This does not include Thursday morning, so those arriving on Wednesday can have a lie in after our free concert at The Wickham Centre or having a drink at the festival bars which will be open on Wednesday evening whilst we finish off the site build.

Yoga will take place at 10am – 11am Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Please note that camping tickets are sold out although there are still some very limited 6 person glamping tents available here:

Day & weekend tickets are still available!

For those who enjoy Shanty singing, we’ve three groups of Shanty singers on Saturday afternoon; Shirley Knot, Alternative Quay, and Portsmouth Shanty Men. Plus traditional Morris Dancers on Saturday & Sunday afternoons.

Thanks for all the guesses and suggestions. Keep them coming. Several of you have given us some more ideas for Wickham 2020. In the meantime, top Scottish/Gaelic band Capercaillie just announced. More announcements in coming days 🤪

If you're still booking bands Wickham Music Festival, we saw a brilliant band supporting the very wonderful Holy Moly and the Crackers (who we have you to thank for introducing a few years ago <3) a couple of weeks ago in Southampton. We reckoned the Wickham crowd would really like them :-D www.facebook.com/pg/ManTheLifeboatsBand/videos/?ref=page_internal

Please get the outside track back! They were awesome and Skipinnish and Talisk from the previous year ❤

    Please NOT Paul McCartney 🙄

Just heard a fab duo Ferris and Silvester. They would be a great addition of young talent to the already super line up for 2020.

Hopefully Gilbert O Sullivan, Lindisfarne, and Ralph McTell yet again as this year, which was terrific, so good that I have booked for the Full. 4 days next year. What a wonderfully run Music festival.

Or John Prine. That would be wonderful

    Capercaillie? Dervish? Van Morrison ? 🙏 🤔

The outcast band (from stroud) are fantastic! From the past.. Leo Sayer(!) Chesney Hawkes(!) Simple Minds.. maybe... Tom Robinson was fantastic a couple of years ago! Dr Feelgood maybe? 😊

I suggest Tankus the Henge and Damion Wilson. Both brilliant in very different ways.

Could I please add Rusty Shackle to suggestions? Saw them in Cardiff recently and they'd be excellent for Wickham.

It would be brilliant if Merry He’ll could be. They would go down great as they interact with the audience and their music is fantastic

Would James Taylor be too 'out there'?

    2nd go - Steve Winwood????

    Horslips would be great headliners...

Grace Petrie please please please please please!

    It all sounds intriguing

    Dhol Foundation /Afro Celt Soundsystem?

Afros or Dhol hopefully, no idea about the others

    Capercaillie ?

Oh I just thought the Noble Jacks. Think they would be great at Wickham. Have you had them before, if so I missed them.

Elvis Costello.... now that would be awesome!

    The Dhol Foundation Capercaillie

I know I've said it before but, Bare Jams would be a great fit for Wickham

I really hope the Gaelic band is The Celtic Social Club. The Wickham crowd would love them,so good live.
