Spoken Word Show – Beatles, Bowie & Me with Nicky Horne
On our Big Top Stage at 3pm this Sunday there is a spoken word show with veteran broadcaster Nicky Horne (Boom Radio, Radio 1, Radio 2, Capital Radio, Talk Radio, Virgin, Sky, Channel 4). Nicly was uniquely privileged to conduct in-depth and profoundly personal interviews with all four members of The Beatles, and also with the enigma that was David Bowie.
For decades, the recordings of those interviews were lost. But Nicky has now unearthed them and is sharing their remarkable content in a highly intimate and revealing series of events, where he will talk about those unique encounters, and where the audience gets the chance to ask him questions as well.
Nicky had many conversations with John, Paul, George and Ringo, as well as with David Bowie. But these interviews were not the normal music industry publicity fodder; instead, they were deeply personal and intimate encounters, revealing the thoughts and feelings of the most creative and innovative artists of the day.
You’ll hear the honest and profound emotions around becoming an ‘ex-Beatle’; and get an insight into the complex yet brilliant mind of David Bowie. From speaking to McCartney backstage at a stadium gig to having home-made cookies and coffee with Lennon in his New York apartment, to skinny-dipping with David Bowie in Cape Cod. These are unique encounters that will intrigue and reveal in equal measure.
This is a show featuring The Beatles and Bowie as you’ve never heard them before. It is a ‘must-see’ event for any fan of their ground-breaking music and will give you a unique insight into the minds and characters of these musical geniuses.
