Wickham Festival News

It’s just one week until the music starts at Wickham Festival 2018!

It’s just a week to the start of this year’s Wickham Festival and today we’ve been onsite all day on the hottest day of the year so far.  It’s been blazing sunshine as we commence our 2018 site build.  Phew … it’s been a scorcher!

Just a week to go and we have just started the long hot job of setting up the site ready to welcome you all.

Don’t forget that whilst we share our images of getting everything ready, you can do the same here with #wickhamfestival.  How are your preparations going?

This time next week the legendary rock icon and the original Cockney Rebel, Steve Harley, will be making it a summer night to remember on our Main Stage 1 – The Valley Stage.  As he says … here comes the sun…

Earlier today this is how the stage looked, we’ve a little way to go yet!

This time next week this will be a Big Top… and you will all be dancing under it.

Whilst over on our other main stage we welcome back our bhangra based house band The Dhol Foundation!  After several daytime appearances at Wickham we thought we’d ask them to headline on Thursday evening for something a little different.  If you can dance with such energy during the day, let’s see what happens after an ale or two. In case you need reminding of last year…

Campsite Opening Times

Our campsites will open from 12 noon to 9pm next Wednesday and from 10am onwards on Thursday. Please note there is a new entrance directly off the Winchester Road for the tented camping fields this year and much-improved access to the caravans & motorhomes camping fields off Blind Lane. We’ve done our utmost to make your journey into the festival much better than last year.  Please follow the signs on arrival.

With wall-to-wall sunshine forecast for next weekend, tickets are selling fast.

Important Information for Campers

Please have your camping ticket ready for inspection on arrival plus a day or weekend Festival ticket. You will not be allowed access to the campsites unless you have a camping ticket and a ticket for at least one day of the Festival.

Arena Opening

Our main Arena will open at 4pm next Thursday with music starting at 4.30. The Box Office will be open from 12 noon for wristband exchange and the purchase of Festival programmes (and our lovely 2018 Festival t-shirts).

We can’t wait and are on a mission to make this year the best one yet.  Happy times ahead Wickham!

Here's another. Heinz Burt Close in Eastleigh. Named after Heinz, the former bass player of The Tornados (famed for their hit Telstar)

Not named after me as such, but I’ve dj’d the silent disco the last 2 years for Bug Beats Events at the Wickham Music Festival! 🤣🤣

There's Charles Watts Way at Hedge end of course

Hi Pete. Did you see my email. Croft No 5 have reformed!! 😊

I saw Ronnie Lane’s Slim Chance in 1976 in the Roundhouse, Chalk Farm. What a great band.

    Marylebone, London

As part of the 'other festival' in Pilton you will find a new road Maggies Farm, not a band member but of course from Bobs tune.

    How come? 😉

OK - I need to get out more! Here’s a little something to fulfil the request!

    Ash Smither

Can't remember where this was now but great name 🤭

Of course its Swansea so it may be the Welsh Dylan

    Spotted this in Partinico, Sicily.

In his home town of Paisley.

Not a road name, but Billy Bragg Bicycles sign in Gillingham is one I remember from childhood. Obviously not that Billy Bragg!
