Wickham Festival 2022 – Day Four

What a fabulous  finish to the festival!

It has been a brilliant event – probably our best yet – and we went out in style with the Waterboys bringing the curtain down in fantastic fashion.

The Waterboys

They were so good that even Gilbert O’Sullivan’s own daughters left their dad Alone Again (Naturally). Instead they Saw The Whole of the Moon. Click here to view.

In their absence, the renowned singer-songwriter delivered a sublime set of old favourites and fresh new material which wowed the crowd on Main Stage 2.

Again that Big Top had a much softer selection with the Sharon Shannon Trio and The Trouble Notes bringing a celtic flavour which made it impossible not to dance.

Back in the other Big Top, the party was in full swing, kicked off by a vibrant set from Cut Capers who brought incredible energy and a whole new genre of music – a real crowd favourite.

The Wickham Festival is renowned for its eclectic mix of acts – and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams certainly met that brief in a category all of their own. They went down a storm with the crowd proving it was well worth the wait after  pandemic restrictions forced them to cancel here last year.

Next up were long-time Wickham favourites The Men They Couldn’t Hang with a powerful but poignant set. It was their first appearance here since the sudden death of one of their lead singers Cush whose guitar took pride of place on stage as the band rattled through their best-known songs in style.

Then it was down to the Waterboys to bring the show home – and they delivered with their trademark power to a rapturous reception.

Planning has already started for next year’s festival, August 3-6. Early Bird tickets are available at a huge discount. Weekend adult season tickets are available online at £140 – or just £130 if you send a cheque to Wickham Festival Office, 51, Russell Street, Gosport, Hampshire PO12 3JD by Monday August 15.

Under 16’s are half price and there is now a £10 charge for children under 10 in a bid to put the brakes on scammers who have been snapping up free child tickets and then selling them on.

For future festivals PLEASE only buy from official outlets to avoid disappointment; we had to turn away several fans who bought fake or duplicate tickets. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Camping is also available to book online now so book now to reserve your place.
