Wickham Festival presents: An Evening with Breabach – Tuesday 16th February

The award-winning Scottish folk band Breabach, current holders of the Album of the Year award, will become the first band from Scotland to embark upon a virtual tour in 2021, covering some of their favourite venues and festivals in the UK – including Wickham. Supported by grant funding from Creative Scotland, they have teamed up with BAFTA winning animator Cat Bruce to create a unique performance for a virtual tour between 11th February and 6th March 2021. Each of the five band members has written brand new music, which has been set to a new animation – Dùsgadh – specifically created for the tour.

Themed on folklore and mystical tales, it’s inspired by the landscape of mountains, rivers, forests and trees, as well as mythical creatures, and tells the story of nature and our surroundings through music and animation.

This is a powerful and poignant piece of work conceived and delivered throughout a turbulent and challenging year for the arts. The music and animation were produced during lockdown and finalised in the early winter. Band member Ewan Robertson said “It’s been a great process to work with Cat again and to connect with the band, even though we’ve been doing most of it remotely. We are really pleased with this and looking forward to sharing it with audiences.”

The evening also includes behind the scenes footage and unseen live performances, plus a Q&A hosted by BBC Radio Scotland broadcaster and musician Anna Massie.

We have joined up with Southdowns Folk Festival and WemsFest to bring you this hour-long evening with Breabach, at 8pm on 16th February 2021. Tickets cost a minimum of £12 and proceeds will be split to support the artists, Wickham, Southdowns and WemsFest.

The concert is being streamed by myplayer. Each venue or festival will feature the stream on a particular night of the tour and ticket buyers will be sent a time-limited link to access the stream on TV, PC or mobile device. The stream will not be available on YouTube or any other platforms and can only be accessed as part of this tour. You’ll be able to watch the show again up to 8th March.

To book please click here. Please note that you can ONLY get tickets via the link. You cannot buy them locally or from WeGotTickets. The link will take you to the secure booking website, where you can select tickets for any of the shows on the tour. All nights have the same content, but please do buy them for the ‘local’ show – 16th Feb 8:00pm WemsFest with Wickham & South Downs Folk Festivals, so that Wickham benefits.
