Wickham Festival News

Football fun at the festival

Renowned photographer Stuart Roy Clarke will be giving a very special talk at Wickham Festival.

He will be talking about his career taking pictures of every aspect of the Beautiful Game.

From Sunday League games in front of a handful of spectators to the biggest games and grounds in the world, Stuart has spent most of his working life capturing the essence of the sport.

He has produced thousands of iconic and evocative images which have been published in a series of artistic coffee table books which can be viewed here.

The talk takes place on the Valley Stage at 11am on Saturday when Stuart and co-author John Williams will be taking a fascinating look at the game.

It will be followed by a mini sea shanty festival down near the storytelling tent at noon and don’t forget the late night comedy.

There's always something for everyone at Wickham. I usually find some treat gems in the unknown to me artists. Looking forward to see what surprises this year brings.

Well i went for 1 day last year and seen lindisfarne, ralph mcTell, my hero, then Sam Browns heros, then saw gilbert O Sullivan, who blew me away plus other very good acts. As i had enjoyed it so very much i decided to book for the full 4 days plus localish hotel plus flight from Cyprus to Gatwick, plus train fare. Now looking at performers what a waste of time as only know 2. Leo Sayer, who is crap and Scottish singer???? Thats how good this years turn out is what a waste of time.

I've never heard them, but heard a lot about them and they're clearly very popular, so looking forward to seeing them.

I think the bill you have announced so far is stunning, every new announcement makes me say yeh again and again.

Paul Campbell this is a great little festival and I know you’re a fan of these guys.

    Great band .... a must
