The first few weeks of 2026 has seen a number of artists announced via out social channels and in case you don’t follow us, here is a little recap to the announcements we’ve made so far this year. As ever Wickam is shaping up to be an unmissable weekend of global sound and songcraft. From platinum-selling jazz to English folk revival, from Northumbrian pipes to Zimbabwean vocal harmonies, this promises to be a rich and unforgettable celebration of global artistry.
Curtis Stigers
Going down a storm in 2024, platinum-selling American singer, saxophonist and songwriter Curtis Stigers first rose to prominence in the early 1990s with hits including “I Wonder Why” and “You’re All That Matters to Me.” Over the years, he has carved out a distinctive second act as a respected jazz artist, releasing acclaimed albums on Concord Jazz and touring internationally. His song “This Life” became the theme tune to the hit TV show Sons of Anarchy, introducing his soulful, smoky vocals to a new generation of fans.
Steve Knightley & The Winter Yards Band
Best known as a founding member and principal songwriter of the award-winning folk duo Show of Hands, Steve Knightley is a firm Wickham favourite and is celebrated as one of the UK’s finest contemporary folk writers. His Winter Yards project showcases a more intimate, roots-driven side of his songwriting, blending lyrical storytelling with masterful guitar work and a deep connection to the English landscape and working traditions.
Kathryn Tickell and The Darkening
Widely regarded as the leading exponent of the Northumbrian pipes, Kathryn Tickell has been a central figure in the English folk scene since her teens. Appointed an OBE for services to folk music, she has collaborated with artists ranging from Sting to The Chieftains. With The Darkening, she explores the wild, elemental side of Northumbrian music, combining ancient melodies with driving rhythms and contemporary arrangements.
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
Founded by the late Simon Jeffes, the Penguin Cafe Orchestra became known for their unique blend of minimalist, folk, classical and world influences. Their piece “Music for a Found Harmonium” has become a modern classic, widely used in film and television. The ensemble’s timeless, genre-defying sound continues to captivate audiences with its joyful, intricate compositions and unmistakable warmth.
Jim Causley & Miranda Sykes
Devon-born folk singer Jim Causley is a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner renowned for his expressive voice and dedication to traditional English song. Miranda Sykes, a sought-after double bassist and vocalist, is celebrated for her work across the UK folk scene, including long-time collaborations with Show of Hands. She appeared at Wickham last year and for 2026, together with Jim, they’ll bring a powerful blend of tradition, harmony and instrumental virtuosity.
Black Umfolosi
Formed in Zimbabwe and inspired by the traditional Imbube vocal style, Black Umfolosi are internationally acclaimed for their vibrant a cappella harmonies and energetic dance performances. With decades of touring across Europe, the USA and Africa, they are cultural ambassadors for Zimbabwean music, combining gospel, traditional song and contemporary influences in a joyful and uplifting performance.
