With Xmas and the New Year fast approaching it’s that time of year we like to update our line up pages with the bookings we have confirmed so far for next year’s festival. With Weekend Earlybird prices rising on January 1st 2025 we are keen to make many more announcements throughout December.
First off, we are delighted to announce that chart-topping Ivor Novello Award-winning singer-songwriter Leo Sayer will be at Wickham next year on Saturday 2nd August. We actually announced Leo would be joining us back in December 2019, but then we all know what happened soon after that!
Leo has had No. 1 singles and albums across the world with a string of highly polished mainstream pop hits in the late ’70s. His musical career began as the leader of Terraplane Blues Band in the late ’60s. He went on to form Patches with drummer Dave Courtney in 1971. His song “Long Tall Glasses” made the top 10 in America in 1975. In 1976, he released Endless Flight featuring the number 1 singles “You Make Me Feel like Dancing” and “When I Need You” selling over a million copies in America.
Following Endless Flight, Sayer became a regular in the American Top 40. He began the 1980s with “More Than I Can Say” that reached numbered 2 in America. Now in 2024 it has been over 50 years since that first single by Patches and he’ll finally be on our stage, what a real treat!
We’ve announced 4 artists for our Sunday which is already looking like an incredible final day line up. Reg Meuross and his quartet featuring Phil Beer, Marion Fleetwood & Geraint Watkins will be bringing their ‘Fire & Dust’ / Woody Guthrie story to Wickham. The wonderful Kate Rusby, Mercury Prize Winner & 6-times BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner, is also confirmed.
Oysterband will be extending their Long, Long Goodbye Tour to appear at the Wickham Festival & Shrewsbury Folk Festival in August 2025. This will be your final chance to enjoy these veterans of British folk rock and folk punk.
“We’re hanging up our travelling shoes, but we’re taking a year or so to say goodbye to our lovely live audience. And we mean to enjoy every minute!”
In the words of our own song Granite Years, we’re waving you a long, long goodbye…..come help us celebrate!”
Lastly for Sunday we can look forward to the Peatbog Faeries. Hailing from the Isle of Skye, they are without a doubt one of Scotland’s best live bands and always a huge hit with the Wickham crowd.
Our Friday so far consists of confirmed bookings for Fisherman’s Friends and Talisk. The multi-award-winning Scottish band Talisk last appeared at Wickham in 2021 and are never afraid to push musical boundaries or test the live production capabilities of just three people.
Fisherman’s Friends are the perfect way to wrap up our first news post for 2025 artists. They’ve entertained 20K at the Glastonbury Pyramid stage, 50K at Proms in the Park, and 80K at Twickenham. They’ve sold out the Albert Hall, the Festival Hall, the London Palladium, and now they’ll be topping all this off for us at Wickham Festival 2025 🙂
As ever we’ve archived the Wickham Festival 2024 line up and info in our yesteryear pages here. We thank all our 2024 artists, stewards, staff, and of course patrons for making 2024 another memorable year.
This December is the ideal time to head over to our tickets page to make an incredible £80 saving on tickets. They make a perfect Xmas present and will give someone you love something to look forward to when next summer comes around!
