Hi Martin, I'm pleased to say we'll have a good choice of lagers this year along with a huge range of real ales and ciders
While we are talking about ale ( it's making me thirsty) , any chance of Guiness this year

Hi Pete, I don't wish to moan as there was so much good about last year but may I make a plea for lager drinkers for 2012 please? Last year was fine for real ale drinkers but there was only 1 lager available (by Saturday) which was ordinary Carlsberg (about which I can't comment for fear of becoming offensive!)
Could we please have a "premium" ie 5% lager this year, with enough stocks to withstand the thirst of Jools's fans?!
Thanks and regards,
Martin

Yes! Our Real Ales bar will be even better in 2012 and we'll also have a good range of real cider for you as well.

Post-Festival Comment: We had a safe off-road pedestrian walkway from the Festival site to the Community Centre and village this year (2011). It worked well and will be in place again next year. I hope you liked our new bar arrangements with a rustic 'real ale' bar serving up to 20 local Hampshire ales at any one time. This proved hugely popular and will be repeated and extended in 2012. Worth noting we didn't have a single incident of drunkeness or crime of any kind over the festival weekend. Well done Wickham festival-goers!

I thought there was a pathway route last year from the town to the arena via the community centre and then around the arena to the campsite or was this just for the motorhome campsite?

Hi,
Saw your posts re taking own drink in to the arena. Is there a bar at the late night venue in the Community Hall? If not , can we take our own in ? ( Some of us just can't get enough !)

I understand glass bottles & cans, because of 'ring pulls'should not be brought into the main festival field.
However, drink in a plastic bottle should be allowed.
The bars at festivals have a limited choice of drink, which is understandable. I am not a beer or lager drinker so if i put a small amount of what i do like into a plastic bottle, what harm is that? Lets face it, we pay enough for tickets & bar prices however cheap,do not match shop prices.Apart from the I of W festival, Stokes Bay was the only festival i have had a bag searched & i go to quite a few.

Peter,
Back in June I asked about access to/from town to the campsite as the only safe route is through the festival arena. In previous years there has been a pathway around the edge but this was removed last year leaving the only alternative route down the main road which has no lighting or path. Is there going to be any path set up this year.

There is a condition on our Premises Licence preventing alcohol from being taken on or off the site. Nothing we can do about that but the Council have been very fair in accepting there's no way we can stop people bringing their own drink onto the campsite. We do have to stop alcohol being taken in and out of the arena though… but with two good bars selling booze at reasonable prices that shouldn't be too great a problem for most people.

Hi…last year there was a ban on taking alcohol into the arena. I can understand this is to protect sales for the bars etc…but this also extended to taking drink thru the main site to the camping. This included the stallholders too, which seemed a bit mean. I know people griped about it last year – so has this been resolved?
Anyway….We Love Wickham Festival
See you all thursday…
