KT Tunstallwas going to be my next guess, as I know you said you had been trying to book her. A strong addition.

I guess I will just have to see about getting a saturday ticket to Larmer tree to see Jason Ringenberg.
Been waiting 30 years, ever since he and the scorchers had to cancel at the floating Bridge………

and he would grace Wickham !!

We can now confirm K T Tunstall is the latest top-name artist to be confirmed for this year's Wickham Festival. K T Tunstall (and her pedal) will appear on Friday 3rd August, the same day as fellow Scottish artists The Proclaimers.

Famed for her live shows K T Tunstall has had a string of chart hits including 'Black Horse & The Cherry Tree' and 'Suddenly I See'. She is an amazing live performer and we're delighted to have secured her for Wickham.

We did think of Joan Armatrading but she's doing so many other festivals plus a major autumn UK tour that we decided against booking her for Wickham. We'd love to book Billy Bragg as his agent well knows, we try every year but he never seems to be available on our dates. The headline artist we have confirmed and that we'll be announcing later today is only confirmed for a couple of other festivals in the UK this year. Keep guessing…

I just had a look at Joan Armatrading's web sit cricky she's busy this year!
I would have thought she would be due a rest after Cambridge.
On that note anyone else planning on doing Cambridge as well.

FIRST NAMES ANNOUNCED for CAMBRIDGE FOLK FESTIVAL!

Clannad (Sat) Joan Armatrading (Sun) The Proclaimers (Sat)

June Tabor & Oysterband (Fri) Loreena McKennitt (Sun)

Billy Bragg celebrates Woody Guthrie’s 100th Birthday (Thurs).

So for me I hope they are not many more double bookings for the two festival as I like a variety on my festival road trips!

Joan Armatrading is my guess…..she is playing Cambridge the week (?) before, Have you seen her touring schedule? she isn't workshy !!

Was hoping it might be Van Morrison, but can't see any sign of him at other festivals this year.

looking forward to seeing whom the big name is………..
I have my suspicions as to who it might be !!

Anyway, I see that Larmer Tree have just booked JASON RINGENBERG.

Now surely Peter isn't going to let LT get away with that?!
book him, and book him now is my advice !

Oh, and would be great to see Billy Bragg at Wickham….local boy these days !

Thanks for the suggestions – a couple of which are currently being pursued. Watch this website for another headliner announcement at 1pm this Friday afternoon – a major league star name who we're delighted to have secured after years of trying.

Pilgrim's Way would be excellent, if possible! Not so sure about The Wurzels, after seeing them at The Great British Folk Festival in December. Opinions were distinctly divided there….

Galley Beggar are one of the most exciting up and coming folk rock bands IMHO and would love to see them at Wickham, Peter.

There's a Scottish Pirate Folk Metal band called Alestorm who are also great fun……….

We are now taking bookings for the full ALABAMA 3 band at UK and European Festivals summer 2012. The full band are always the booking priority but we can also consider requests for the unplugged.

Please contact Dan Silver, dan@vathq.co.uk for further details.

"so we have radio 2 folk awards best live act Home service who were excellent live last year at Cambridge folk festival.
I wonder if ther are any more waiting in the wings ?"

We hope for one more plus one for our Easter Festival in Wickham. Currently negotiating for a couple more top-name artists for Wickham in August. Keep an eye on this website for news.
